What is on-device AI?
AI that runs on your own phone, tablet or computer rather than on a company's servers. Because the model lives on your device, it answers with no internet connection.
What is local AI?
AI that runs on your own device rather than on a company's servers, using a model installed on that device. hYYa Vault is local AI, and it keeps working with no internet.
Is there an AI that works offline?
Yes. hYYa Vault, the on-device engine in the hYYa ai app, runs on your device. Install a model once, and chat, memory, document questions and exports all keep working without a connection.
Is there an offline AI chatbot for iPhone and Android?
Yes. hYYa ai is on the App Store for iPhone and iPad (iOS 26 or later) and on Google Play for Android (8.0 or later, on a 64-bit device). It is also on the Mac App Store for Macs with Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later.
Do I need to download a model?
Usually, yes. hYYa recommends the one that fits your device, and one tap installs it. On iPhone, iPad and Mac that support Apple Intelligence, you can use Apple's on-device model with nothing to download.
How good is offline AI on a phone?
It follows the device. A phone runs a small model, and a Mac with plenty of memory runs a much larger one. hYYa shows the memory each model needs before you choose.
Do I need an account?
No. Chat, documents, exports and take-off all work without one.
Is it free?
Yes. hYYa Vault has no subscription and no one-time unlock. hYYa Cloud, the online engine in the same app, is a paid plan.
Does anything leave my device?
Nothing you type, store or open leaves your device unless you turn on an online feature. The app goes online in a few cases that carry none of your content, such as downloading a model. The hYYa Vault page lists every one.
Can offline AI read my documents?
Yes. Add PDFs, photos and files, ask your question, and see where in the document each answer came from.
Can it make images or use voice?
No. Image generation and voice are hYYa Cloud features, and hYYa Vault has neither.
Is it on Windows or in a browser?
No. There is no Windows build, and a browser tab cannot run a local model. The web app at hyya.ai is hYYa Cloud only.
